Ranger is an incredibly handsome 6 year old gentleman. He is pit bull & maybe mastiff mix, weighs in at 74 lbs & a muscle machine! Don't let his beefy good looks fool you, this guy is super sweet and a bit of a chicken. He doesn't like the dark or rain much, but if his human is by his side he will go any where & do any thing. He is a low maintenance, great all around dog - loves kids, all people, other dogs, is crate & house trained, knows basic commands & walks perfectly on leash. He is neutered & up to date on his vaccinations. Ranger's owners were renters that didn't do their homework on owning this breed - they signed a lease at a complex that did not allow pit bulls & were forced to choose money over this wonderful boy they have had since he was a puppy. Of course Ranger was heartbroken. Unfortunately, this happens a lot with this breed - nearly 2,000 pit bull/mixes are euthanized at local kill shelters every year, all of them ended up at a shelter due to no fault of their own, their humans made bad choices, didn't research what owning this breed entails & were not committed to them for life.

There is baggage that comes with owning a pit bull or pit bull mix, please check out www.pbrc.net for everything you need to know about owning or adopting a pit bull. The-Pit-Stop is looking for applicants that have breed knowledge & experience, are positive pit bull advocates & dog owners, own their own home with proper home owner's insurance, a secure fenced yard & a life time commitment. Please email: info@the-pit-stop.org for more information and for an application. Ranger's adoption fee is 150.00, he is neutered & up to date on all shots & is micro chipped.

  • About The-Pit-Stop

The-Pit-Stop is a small rescue that was formed by Jacinda (former Pasado’s Safe Haven volunteer, previous Homeward Pet board member) and Amy (Homeward Pet dog foster coordinator, adoption counselor) to be a voice and a safe haven for the very misunderstood, neglected and abused American Pit Bull dog breed.

The-Pit-Stop works with local rescue groups like Animal Aid & Rescue foundation, has taken in owner surrenders, and pulls from kill shelters across Washington to give a second chance to those in most need. We are very fortunate to have the support of Homeward Pet Adoption Center and Evergreen Holistic Veterinary Care to help with spay, neuter and veterinary services at a discount.

We are also fortunate to have awesome foster homes and like-minded pittie lovers that offer emotional, transport and financial help in our quest to make a difference. We wouldn't be functional with out them!

With an average of 2,000 Pit Bull/mixes euthanized every year in our local shelters alone, there is so much more work to be done.

The-Pit-Stop specializes in Pit Bull education, and provides shelter & rescue for puppies or dogs that are in danger of being euthanized. We strongly believe in restoring the image of the Pit Bull breeds through responsible Pit Bull ownership and education. We truly feel that we will never put a dent in the homeless Pit Bull problem unless we educate the public about these noble dogs.
